Adirondack Park Information

The Adirondack Park of New York State encompasses an area of approximately 6 million acres (9375 square miles) -- roughly the size of the state of Vermont. It is the largest park in the country this side of Alaska and includes both private and public (forest preserve) holdings. The forest preserve consists of approximately 2.5 million acres.

The Adirondack park contains thousands of lakes, ponds, and streams. It attracts those who enjoy hiking, canoeing, skiing (cross-country and downhill), rock climbing, and white-water rafting, to name a few.

In addition, the Adirondacks are the home of Lake Placid. This little village, nestled among the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, has hosted two winter olympics and offers opportunities for outdoor adventures in all seasons.
